Meatloaf is a great, traditional all-American dish that almost everyone loves. If you want to make your very own meatloaf but are worried it may be complicated then why not try this oh-so-simple version? With just some ground beef, an egg and a few seasonings you too can create a yummy meatloaf for the whole family to enjoy with minimum fuss.
It is not only quick and easy to prepare but makes the kitchen smell wonderful whilst cooking! Using powdered versions of onion and garlic mean much less prep time. It also prevents you getting large pieces of garlic or onion in your meatloaf; something a few people, especially kids, are not keen on.
Meatloaf is a wonderfully hearty, comfort food that can be enjoyed with many accompaniments but works especially well with baked potatoes. A simple version of a classic traditional dish is, in my opinion, always a handy recipe to have.
- 1lb of lean ground beef
- 1 egg
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Italian seasoning
- Place the beef in a large bowl and add in the egg and half a cup of breadcrumbs. Now add half a teaspoon of garlic powder, half a teaspoon of onion powder, a teaspoon of Italian seasoning and a third of a cup of ketchup.
- Using your hands mix all the ingredients together until they have all combined. Once the mixture is firm and compact, form it into a loaf shape and place into your loaf tin. Squeeze little more ketchup across the top.
- In an oven preheated to 190C bake the meatloaf for around 45 minutes. When removed from the oven cut through the middle to ensure it is cooked; there should be no pink meat left at all.
- Cut into slices and serve.
